Privacy Policy

Overview

BKK Events is a free events-discovery site for Bangkok. We aggregate publicly listed events from many sources and present them in one place. This policy explains what little personal data the site touches, how it is used, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal data and we run no advertising or third-party tracking of our own.

What we store

You do not need an account to use BKK Events. By default everything you do stays on your own device. To remember things like your saved events without a login, your browser generates a random, anonymous device id (a UUID) the first time you visit. It is not linked to your name, email, or any identity, and we do not use device fingerprinting.

That device id namespaces the data you choose to save:

  • Events you mark as favourites.
  • Tags, venues, and artists you follow.
  • Saved lists you create.
  • Your light / dark theme preference.

If you choose to sign in (see “Your choices”), this saved data can be synced to your account so it follows you across devices.

Cookies & local storage

We use your browser’s localStorage — not tracking cookies — to keep the items above on your device. These values never leave your browser unless you sign in and ask us to sync them. The keys we set are prefixed with bkk_ (for example bkk_device_id, bkk_favorites, and bkk_theme). You can clear them at any time; see “Your choices”.

Third-party services

  • Hosting & delivery. The site is served through a content-delivery network. Like any web host, it processes standard request metadata (such as your IP address and browser user-agent) to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
  • Google Maps. Some venue pages embed a map from Google Maps. When a map loads, Google may receive your IP address and device information under Google’s privacy policy. Maps load only on pages that show one.
  • Google Sign-In. Only if you choose to sign in, we use Google Identity Services to verify your identity. We receive a signed token containing your basic profile (name and email) to create your account. This happens only when you opt in.
  • Event sources. Event and venue listings are gathered from publicly available sources. That information is about events, not about you.

Your choices

  • Stay anonymous. You can browse, search, and save events without ever signing in. Your data stays on your device.
  • Clear your data. Clearing your browser’s site data (or using private/incognito mode) removes the device id and everything saved against it. A new anonymous id is created on your next visit.
  • Sign in or out. Signing in is entirely optional and is used only to sync your saved items across devices.

Children's privacy

BKK Events is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Some events listed may have their own age restrictions set by the organiser.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected here; please check back from time to time.
